My website is a reflection of an eclectic approach to photography. It ranges from the built environment of urban architecture to natural places – more seashore than mountains – flower gardens and their denizens.
Just a word about my approach to publishing this website. I have been an avid photographer since the 1980s. My father was also interested in photography his entire life, providing a photographic history that I treasure today. His inadvertent comments to my teachers at Red Bank Catholic resulted in my anointment as the school photographer in 1967.
As a graduate architect I always had an interest in the forms, structure rhythm and patterns of the built environment. My career as a city plannergave me the opportunity to see and photograph a majority of the major cities in this country. Although I focused on architectural form, anyone with the camera is attracted to the natural environment, forest, beach and mountains. I was no different when given the opportunity to see some of the national parks.
So why did I create this website? Given that my images are offered for purchase one might say that it was a financial decision.. However, as I was fond of saying – my photography is good enough that people usually appreciate my images, but not good enough that they want to pay for them. So my focus is not on the commercial aspect of photography. I consider this website part of my story which can be told in how I view the the built and natural environment.
Suffering a stroke in 2012 severely limits my ability to remain an active shooter. So my time is now spent on reviewing and processing a over 20 years of shooting. Therefore, my purpose is to share what I believe is my best work with you on this website. Hopefully you will enjoy my photographic journey.
